Project Management Certifications Compared
|
|
A pretty thorough comparison of project management-related certifications from a number of associations (AACE, PMI, 4 others) has been published by Paul Giammalvo. See the two related links on this page. There is a narrative link and also a link to a spreadsheet and chart.
While no evaluation is completely unbiased, it is an interesting read. Different AACE certifications range from near-easiest to the hardest to obtain, by the way.

Certification class has been cancelled

Only a couple of people signed up for the certification class this weekend, so the class has been cancelled. We'll probably offer the class again this Fall.

Need points for recertification?
|
|
Many of our Section members have a certification through AACEI. Regardless of the type of certification - EVP, PSP, CCC, or CCE - we have to go through a recertification process every three years. This basically means steadily accumulating points so you have the amount required when it comes time to recertify.
Many ways to earn points are what you would expect, including going to training, attending Section meetings, or holding an AACE office. However, there are other less-obvious ways to accumulate points. A good resource that lists all of the ways to get points is the Guide To Recertification on AACEI's website. At the bottom of the Guide is the recertification form, which itemizes things that a person can do to earn points.
For example, Section C.3 describes earning points by submitting questions for future certification tests. Section E.4 describes technical committee participation, which is basically participating in email mailing lists. Section C.2 describes teaching, like teaching part of a certification class. (Note that preparation time can also be counted for teaching and giving presentations).
There are many ways to earn points, so if you're running behind, don't give up. Review the possibilities and commit to doing the things necessary to keep you valuable certification. If you need ideas, contact someone on the ETS Board or Sandy Williard at HQ.
